The Beginning Is Always The Hardest

What do you think?

September it was real, but hello October! There is always something so promising about a new month. New energy seems to flow through our veins reviving us, and of course, new goals to set and accomplish.

How many times have you heard, "the beginning is always the hardest". I've heard, and said this to myself and others many times in the past. I think it is, because the beginning is also the unknown. Whenever we take a huge leap of faith into the unknown, like starting a new health or fitness program, a new job, semester at school , or for me a new business, our hearts tend to skip a beat, and our egos, alarmed at the possibility at being less in control, start screaming for us to turn back.

It's the thought of stepping outside our "comfort zones" that keeps so many of us paralyzed, and doing the same thing over and over. Sure we may not like what we see in the mirror, or we're tired of feeling sluggish. We want to lose those last ten pounds, and we're definitely frustrated because nothing has worked before, but somehow we make it ok. We learn to deal and accept our current situation, rather than actively do something new because let's face it, it's easier to accept and stay right where we are. If we don't try, then there is no way we can fail. Or we go at it half-heartedly. That way if we fail, we can tell ourselves we won't be too dissapointed because maybe we had been preparing ourselves for failure all along. Self-sabotage at it's finest.

October is the month where on the east coast, there's no denying that fall is officially here. Just like the leaves on the trees that have started to change colors, it's time for us to change with the seasons too. No more doubts, no more negative thoughts, and definitely no more just living, because it's time to start thriving.

Enjoy the journey.
xoxo Helen
